ESSENTIAL LEGAL SERVICES UPDATE

Dear Clients and Friends:

Governor Baker has required all non-essential businesses to close from March 24 through April 7, 2020. However the order states that legal services are considered essential during this difficult time as it relates to our family law and estate planning practice and the services that we provide, especially in reference to pending court cases that have been deferred to April and shortly thereafter.

Our attorneys are equipped to work from home If needed and can conduct meetings by telephone or video conferencing if necessary. The office will be lightly staffed so that we can answer calls and receive case mail. We are also equipped to file court filings online with the Probate and Family Court.

Family law matters that may be of immediate concern to you during this pandemic include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Visitation issues with your children

-Child support payments

-Alimony payments

If you have been laid off, and you have the responsibility of paying support, or in the alternative, you are the recipient of support…we can assist you in trying to resolve issues outside of court through family law mediation (which we strongly recommend) or otherwise. And if necessary, we can assist you through litigation by filing a Complaint for Modification or Contempt with the court, both of which should be filed sooner rather than later to preserve your rights and any retroactive payments that may be due.

Should you have any questions regarding your existing estate plan, such as with your Will, Health Care Proxy, Power of Attorney, Living Will, or Trusts, or should you need a new plan drafted, we are here to help get everything done in an efficient manner. We can send you an intake form to fill out and we can prepare everything with you having to leave your homes.

We are in the office, however, your calls will be automatically returned if you should reach our answering service or if you contact us through our website and text service at www.Amarallaw.com. We can be reached by phone at (617)539-1010 and I can be reached by email at edamaral@amarallaw.com .

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Amaral, Jr.
